Turkey faces runoff election with Erdogan leading

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan failed to secure a clear majority to extend his two-decade-long rule, and will now face his rival Kemal Kilicdaroglu in a second round of voting on 28 May. Erdogan led with 49.39% of the votes in the presidential election while Kilicdaroglu had 44.92%, causing deep political polarisation within the country at a political crossroads.
